CSA Member Agreement
A few truths:
Joining a CSA brings you closer to all aspects of your food, the people who grow it and the place where it’s grown. It’s an amazing gift to place your trust and your money in our farm.
Farming is full of risk and unpredictable even in the best years. Beginning farmers like myself are inevitably working with less knowledge and fewer resources to manage these risks. 2026 will be my second season operating the farm and will surely be full of unknowns and failures, which could include variability in the quality and quantity of certain crops. As a CSA member, you are agreeing to shoulder a portion of these risks.
In return for your support, we will do everything in our power to shower you with the best of what we grow, passing along abundance whenever possible. We’ll look forward to getting to know you and keep you involved as the season unfolds. You can expect weekly newsletters with on-farm updates, recipe ideas and other inspiration to keep you connected with what’s happening in the fields.
When you join our CSA, you're agreeing to these terms:
The CSA season is 20 weeks of fresh, organically-grown produce, starting in June and ending in October. Our target start date in 2026 is Wednesday June 10th, but it could be slightly later depending on weather.
The “Veggies Only” share price is $40 per week, which equals $800 for the season.
The “Veggies & Prints” share price is $50 per week, which equals $1000 for the season. Signing up for a “Veggies & Prints” membership guarantees that you receive all of the weekly prints at a discounted rate.
All CSA members will have the opportunity to purchase the “print of the week” on a week-by-week basis. These linocut prints are exclusive to CSA members and are not available for sale elsewhere.
We have over 40 types of vegetables or herbs in our crop plan this year. Each week's CSA box will typically contain 7-8 items, which should be enough to feed 1-3 people.
When you sign up, you're agreeing to pay for your share and submit your payment on time. You can pay the full amount up front via Zelle or check, or in three installments by check (see below). If you’re able to put down a deposit, we are happy to work with you to figure out a payment plan. The payment options are either via Zelle or check by mail. The deadline for submitting your payment is March 1st.
Members paying in installments must send in all three checks by March 1st. You will write all three checks ($267 each for "Veggies Only" shares or $334 each for "Veggies and Print" shares) dated 3/1/2026, 6/1/2026, 9/1/2026. We'll hold onto the checks and plan to cash them when those dates roll around!
With the exception of members with food allergies, you will not have the ability to customize your box.
CSA pickups are on Wednesdays. You’ll have the option to pick up at Broadturn Farm in Scarborough from 2pm-6pm or Austin Street Brewery in Portland from 3pm-7pm.
You're responsible for picking up your share every week, or designating someone else to pick up your share for you. (In that case, please make sure they know the pickup location and hours, and also know to only take the box labeled with your name.)
If you're going out of town or will be otherwise unable to pick up your share, please notify us no later than a day before the scheduled pickup so we can plan to donate your share. If you miss a pick-up without notifying us, then the box is automatically forfeited and donated.
